The Tax Collector/Treasurer is authorized and directed to apply tax payments pursuant to Title 36 MRSA section 906.

If there are any past due balances on the account you are paying, then the payment you make today will be applied

to the oldest amount of interest, fees and principal outstanding, in that order, in accordance with the laws of the State of Maine.
